Welcome to Firefly

The org profile on GitHub opens with a simple statement: Hey. Welcome to Firefly.

That is intentional. No launch video. No waitlist. No "we are reimagining productivity" slide. Just a lab with repos.

What we are

Firefly Labs is an independent technology lab focused on open-source tools, developer utilities, and experimental systems. We build for people who live in the terminal — and for anyone who wants software that stays out of the way.

We are not optimizing for press coverage. We are optimizing for software that still works six months from now.

How we operate

Three rules, stated plainly:

  1. Code comes first. Hype does not. If it is not in a repo, it does not exist.
  2. Each repository is a product. Clear scope, clear owner, clear intent.
  3. Some projects are experimental. Some are stable. All of them are real. We do not keep placeholder repos around to look active.

Firefly functions as a lab that hosts multiple independent projects. The org is the umbrella. The repos are the work.

What to expect from this blog

Short notes — not a content marketing machine. Release context, technical decisions, things we tried and dropped. The kind of writing you would find in a lab notebook, not a SaaS changelog.

If you want the raw material, start on GitHub or browse Projects. Questions go to discussions.
